Skate park?

I was speaking to a friend who lives in Lower Arlen Hill last week. She told me that apparently the amount of antisocial behaviour has reduced massively since the new skate park was opened a year ago and that she feels much happier letting her two teenagers go and meet their friends there rather than just at the bus station or the supermarket which is what they were often doing before. Surely we could benefit from a similar thing in Upper Arlen Hill – it seems such a simple way to make life better for everyone!

Why the contribution is important

There's not enough for teenagers to do at the moment, and that causes other problems in the area.

I'm not sure a skate park is the best we can do for our teenagers.
Could a youth community centre and a youth worker be a better spend of money for the Council?

I think I agree with johnsmith100. Skating is a little too restrictive and niche.
Though I agree our teenagers need more options when it comes to extracurricular activities and the facilities to do so. Perhaps a youth community centre or even the other idea about a sports arena etc. is a better spend of money?

I would welcome a skate park (if anything but to relive some of my own youth!). But in all seriousness I think a skate park would be a welcome addition to Upper Arlen Hill. A skate park isn't just a skate park, its a place for teenagers to hang out with friends without disturbing the peace in the community.

I like the sound of a skate park.
Would it be too much to also include a graffiti wall or two for young aspiring artists to use as a practice ground? I think that'll help contain the graffiti around Arlen Hill better as it'll give them a platform to practise their craft. I've seen this more inclusive approach used in other towns/cities.

Hmm...a graffiti wall may be a step too far. Though I have seen the method used to great effect in Bristol where they adopt a different approach to their graffiti policy. I'd be keen to see it trialled.
