Incentivise manufacturing companies to move their manufacturing back to the UK

I think Government could use targeted funding and tax breaks to help companies that want to move their manufacturing back to the UK to do so. I have seen too many British companies move their manufacturing abroad in order to remain competitive in the global market. We must doing more to help keep their manufacturing base here in the UK.

I am not incredibly knowledgeable on our international trade agreements etc...but I'm sure there's a way to satisfy any of these commitments whilst hlpeing British businesess?

Why the contribution is important

It can help British brands retain theit uniquely 'British' identity.

Helping to keep manufacturing in the UK will help retain the skills and knowledge in the country associated with manufacturing and stem the skill/knowledge drain, especially in niche industries.

More manufacturing in the UK will help retain jobs and help the economy in the long term and maintain any diversity in the British economy.

Great idea - but would this be cost effective?
Manufacturing costs in developing countries are so low that it could represent a challenge to make Britain competitive.

I think it would be great to grow manufacturing in Britain. I think a lot of companies no longer even consider basing their manufacturing here, particularly the home brands. It is just abroad for them. This isn't the way it should and we need to get manufacturing back on home soil.
